The show ‘Whitechapel’ on BBC America is back for another exciting season. The show comes on Wednesday nights at 10 pm. Although the show started off with weak and mixed reviews, it has gained some momentum with viewers since the slow start of the first season. Back for more, this team of crime-fighting specialists has returned to face another batch of bad guys, and solve more gory murders.
The story follows the a group of investigators as they solve the grisly, gruesome crimes that are committed in their district. The investigations are led by Detective Inspector Joseph Chandler, played by Rupert Penry-Jones. Chandler feels that his work includes the past. He thinks the past should be paid attention to, for insight, wisdom, inspiration or a lesson. His prim and proper personality and approach to detective work contrasts sharply with that of his partner, Sergeant Ray Miles.
The role of Myles is played by Phil Davis. Myles thinks detective work is done by legwork, contacts and guts. He has little patience for Chandler’s approach to his work, insisting that traditional means are the best.
The show also includes Edward Buchan, played by Steve Pemberton. Buchan offers his expertise with insights into the minds of killers, with his vast and extensive knowledge of Jack the Ripper. He finds a home in the police precinct when Chandler offers him a full-time position, much to Myles’ disgust. Buchan finds that the precinct’s basement suits him nicely.
The trio is put to the test, as one bloody victim after another is discovered. With every episode, there has been a different twist or turn to the plot, with a new killer that terrifies and thrills. Read the rest of this entry »
