If you like to watch television that deals with current pop culture, but get excited about your scripted shows also, you might be able to get your fix on E!
This channel is now getting into scripted television with an exciting lineup. This scripted programming is still in development, but it involves professionals at the top of their field, like Kevin Spacey, John Wells, Michael De Luca and others. E! is also employing the help of writers from “Gossip Girl”, “CSI”, “Brothers & Sisters” and other programs that were viewer favorites.
Bonnie Hammer, NBCUniversal’s Cable Entertainment Chairman, the President for E! Entertainment, Suzanne Kolb and the E! President of Entertainment Programming, Lisa Berger unveiled this development slate at the Upfront for the network, today.
One program is currently listed as “Amy Devlin Mysteries”. It is a story of a female detective that is obsessed with culture. She brings her own style to the job. It is based on a novel by Daniel Barnz. Barnz is also the writer and producer of “Won’t Back Down”, set to go to theaters in September 2012.
Another program in the making is “Anne of Hollywood”. This program will be based on the novel written by Carol Wolper. It is the story of Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII, but it is reset for present-day times in Hollywood.
E! Entertainment has also slated “Dorothy”, which was originally inspired by Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz. It shows a Kansas City girl that falls in love for a hotel owner. She moves to Emerald City to work with this man at his Emerald Hotel.
“Fascination Street” is a look at the relationship between band members and brothers. The then and now take on the show brings out the past and present relationship between the two as they solve the mystery of how their lead singer disappeared, and who is responsible. Read the rest of this entry »
